An Optimistic Attitude
It's odd how being a bit optimistic can change your entire day. My morning, full of unfortunate events, began with burning my hand on a curling iron for what seems like the hundredth time, to finding out that the flash drive containing all of my latest journalism work crashed.
Just as I was about to declare this a bad day, I began to think of words that I've heard my pastor speak many times in church. "Today you were able to dress yourself and feed yourself without any help from others. Someone else out there always has it much worse than you." When I took the time to stop for a moment, breathe, and look at my life, I realized just how selfish I was being. Today, God gave me another day to live life, and do great things. I was taking this opportunity for granted. Yes, I have a new scar to match the others. I'm sure it won't be my last. Now I have to work much harder in journalism to makeup for lost work, but it will only make me stronger.
Today I am thankful I was given another day to live life. I'm thankful for the small things, and for the life lessons I've been taught. No day should be taken for granted because someone out there is pleading for another day, another moment, another memory. Appreciate everything. You never know when it will all be gone.
